As an adult who has always wanted try violin, and having some experience with musical instruments, what was included at this price point initially caught my eye. I purchased this setup on sale for just over £50, which would've been a great price just for the case, so I'm beyond impressed with the included instrument. Worried that it was just a VSO, I did a lot of research before choosing this one, and finally decided to take the risk. I'm so glad I did, as it immediately seemed to be a very playable starter violin, very comfortable and with a lovely tone. But what did I know, being new to violin? So brought it to a couple of friends to check it out, one who plays violin as a professional mariachi, and another an accomplished fiddler. They both concurred that it's perfectly lovely for my needs, and said I did really well to get it. The fiddler played it for about 40 minutes straight, literally didn't want to put it down, and it sounded especially gorgeous in his hands! He also remarked on how lightweight it is, and appreciated the smooth finish. I really do like the matte finish, which I feel imparts a higher quality feel, and makes the instrument less slippery. While you do need to install the bridge, there are plenty of YouTube videos out there for that. For those who aren't getting any sound out of the instrument, please understand you need to rosin the bow. As far as it not staying in tune, you need to push the tuning pegs gently in as you tune it so that they hold, as is the case with many (most?) violins, which is also explained online. As I've had it for a few months now, I have made a few upgrades; I purchased a better shoulder rest (The Everest, love it!), a nicer cake of rosin, and a carbon-fiber bow, but what came in the kit were certainly enough to give me started, giving me a chance to dabble with violin enough to decide that it's something I'd indeed like to pursue further. I feel this instrument, as long as it holds up, will suit my needs for at least the next several years.
dominic henderson
Beautiful instrument , well crafted ,better than just for beginners
Andrew Bateman
Beautiful! I can't wait to learn how to play it! So far so good ??
Joyce Guo
Bought for a friend curious to learn. He loves it
Nina McLean-Ellmann
Bought this instrument for my son. He is loving every bit of it. Easy to handle and great sound
Steven Rowe
Bought this to learn on. I replaced the strings right away which improved sound quality. The bow will be next. Violin itself is well enough made and sound quality is fine. It's an inexpensive instrument so I didn't expect anything more. The dots marking the first fret are a bit out of place, though. Original strings also wouldn't hold a tune through a full hour's practice.
Lisa Maule
Came exactly as described, sounds great so far so good.
Filiz Griffin
Comes with everything you need to begin playing violin, or even f you are already playing, this is definitely a great violin, for a decent price.
Gareth Jones
Decent quality for the money and everything we needed. The carrying case is very nice and overall better than we expected.
Andrea Medeghini
Doesn’t seem like the most sturdy or high quality but for the money it’s good so far. Not easy to tune, so you’ll need patience for that.
Victoria Irvine
Easy to tune, great sound. Comes nicely package so Nothing gets damaged.
jon hulse
Georgie Davis
Everything is great except for having to put the strings on myself which I don't know how to do. My last violin came strung and tuned. A little disappointing because I had to wait a month before someone could string it for me.
Livia Busseni
For a beginner, this has got to be the best deal ever! You get a full size 4/4 violin with case and accessories (shoulder rest, rosin, extra bridge and extra strings) The build and quality is very impressive for a beginner. It’s hard to justify a few hundred dollars for a beginner, but for this price, it’s a perfect “try out” to see if this journey continues. The sound is very nice and robust. The violin does require setup as it ships without the bridge in place. Highly recommend an experienced player/teacher help you as it is a bit involved if you don’t know what it supposed to sound like. Because you of course will need to tune it. The case is awesome. It has backpack straps and the padding and secure strap inside are great quality. The tuning pegs are well-fitted and need to be pushed in to set the tension/friction to keep in place as you turn. Overall, I am so happy with this purchase!
Magnus af Donner
For the price this was a great violin for me to get familiar with a violin. I was able to tune it and play scales on it. The case alone was worth the price. I will upgrade in the near future, but for now this was a great purchase for me to begin on.
Redentor Bello
Gave to my stepdaughter for Christmas who has never played. It is easy to handle and sounds great!
john mackay
Get for beginner even though my sister used to play back in school I still got her the beginner one. She loves her Christmas gift definitely worth it. One small thing the strings seems like they can break if you tighten them too tight so go to someone professional just in case
BOGDAN ZIOLKOWSKI
Good for beginners.
Remya Rajendren
Good gift for someone special
Samantha Curwell
Good sound and seems to be good craftsmanship. Son has a different brand violin at this price point, and this Eastar sounds dramatically better.
Gillian Grebby
Good violin for the price. Doesn’t hold a tune that great but should get better the more my daughter plays. The half size is perfect for my 9 year old!
anna hager
Good violin for my child. She’s still a beginner so it’s a good fit. She’s happy.
Donna Patrick
Great beginner fiddle!! Great case it came with too!!
Libby Galloway
Great beginner instrument. Good sound quality.
Robert Hinde
Great for beginners but quality is a little on the lower end side. It was great for my daughter starting orchestra and seeing if she is going to enjoy it before we get a higher quality violin for her.
Lisa Simpkin
Great for beginners. It doesn’t have the best sound quality but perfect for the first time violinist.
Chereene Chrichlow
Great for beginners. Very cheap and reliable for a first violin.
Michelle Gibson
Great for the price. Stays in tune pretty well too.

Graham Lindstrom
Great violin
Kerry Merrifield
Great violin for my 10 years old, good for beginners.
Heather Fossey
Great violin for those wanting to learn but not ready for the investment of an expensive instrument. It’s VERY lightweight, more so than I expected (I picked up the case once and thought it was empty, but it wasn’t!). But honestly, it’s perfect for my 8yr old - she really wanted to learn to play, but I was reluctant to spend a fortune only for her to decide after a month she was no longer interested. Fortunately, she’s still enjoying her lessons!
Agne Kasperaviciute
Great violin for the price.
Donald jackson
Her teacher says this is nice violin with all the accessories needed (shoulder pad is nice and adjustable), good fit for 5 yr old. Also, it is a beautiful wood color. Will see how it holds up, but so far good.
anita Harrak
I am a young adult, who recently discovered her love for the sound of the violin… so much so, that I decided to learn to play. This is my first time picking up the instrument, and I am having tons of fun learning all about it! (I have a little bit of experience with music, as I learned to play the piano when I was little.) I think for the (inexpensive) price, the quality met all of my expectations. The product required some assembly, but I had no problem with that. The pegs need to be pushed in tight to retain their positions—a child might need help with that. Also, the hairs on the bow seem to be a bit loose (they have snagged on the side of my violin a couple times while playing), but not a big deal, I assume I was just playing improperly. After a few days of practicing, setting up and tuning are more fluid for me now, and today I started recording myself playing some simple songs. It really is a cathartic experience! Overall, a great starter violin. I am a very happy customer.
isabella Huzzey
I am enjoying my violin very much! It's great for my intention. I am teaching myself, I dont recommend self teaching! I am having trouble with the pegs. They are slipping and I didnt research ahead of time. It is easy to assemble. It is easy to use! I am a small woman. I purchased a half size and think I could have handled a 3/4 just fine. It's a great purchase to just "fiddle" around with!
ADRIAN MOORE
I am new to the violin. It is a beautiful violin. As for it being of sound quality or for beginners I have to rate as neutral.
Tanya Sabeva
I am so pleased with this 1/4 size violin! Really good quality for the price! Easy to set up and it Sings! I would recommend this brand to beginners as an economical alternative to renting! There is even an extra bridge and set of strings should one break while learning to tune! A clip on tuner and collapsible shoulder rest also included so you have everything you need to set up and play right away! ??
Macline Jakisa
I bought it for my son and he's enjoying it a lot. Build quality solid and sound from this violin is amazing. I think it's a perfect instrument for a beginner.
David Carver
I bought the violin for my 11 year old child and I'm really happy. I did not know that you can buy a reasonable violin for a child to learn at such a good price. Also it is very useful that it arrives with a case and replacement strings (one has already snapped) and rosin which is of mediocre quality. It is worth adding that the sound of the violin is not very professional but it is excellent for beginners.
Sam Mercer
I bought this as a first violin for our seven year old daughter. Her instructor is a lifelong violin player and was very impressed with it. The cost was equivalent to renting a violin for less than four months so it was worth it to me to purchase this and not have to worry about returning it or damaging a rental. Some of the fibers of the bow did break the first week but it may have been three or four and it did not affect the sound quality. It has a lovely sound and seems totally appropriate for a child’s violin. It came with many accessories which the instructor said made it an extra good deal.
Joan Woolverton
I bought this for my daughter for Christmas. She has been wanting one so she can learn to play. It’s very lightweight but well made. I love that it comes with the case and all the extras. It is definitely perfect for beginners! Money well spent.
Dinesh Warnakulasooriya Thamel
I bought this for my niece as well because it was affordable and she was showing that she was interested in learning more. Obviously she was extremely happy to see it, but she hasn't put it down since she got it. This is definitely a must have for beginners and the younger audience alike.
nick munro
I bought this violin for my daughter and didnt expect much for £89 including case tuner shoulder of etc but this little violin looks and sounds great. No instructions provided to setup but it’s really quite easy and plenty of resources are available online.
J Edwards
I brought this for myself to pick up the skills I once had. It is really the perfect buy. It comes with one bow which I only wish there is a spare but it is enough. Two bridges, extra strings, an electric toner that I also tone my guitar with, should rest and a light weight hard case will come as part of the whole package. The violin itself has four fine toners that allows you to find adjust the sound. Very nice and worth every penny spent. Highly recommend.
Alex Downes
I ended up getting this for my girlfriend for her birthday and I was amazed with how it looked! Came in a nice case, the wood looked clean, and came with extra strings! Would recommend for beginners!
Terry Cray
i got this violin for my child. i got the 1/2 size cause she is now learning how to play violin. the violin came with a bunch of attachments which made it easy to use and not to start buying all the add on parts that a violin would need (such as a case...). so when i was putting the string together to tune it you need to be very careful cause on my first try i rip the end of the blue string when trying to turn and twist the top of the string for tuning... so i just tied it back together (at the bottom of it were it holds on with a small mettle part...) and it did work it does still tune well and sounds great. it does come with 4 extra strings in case that does happened to replace it but i didn't replace it yet am waiting for it to probably break fully and then switch it cause u need to tune the violin a couple times so it's normal for it to break so i would just recommend to be very careful when trying to tune it (tip do it slowly) . it did come with a electric tuner but the tuner is really made for a guitar so it has all the letters for a guitar so just make sure you know the letters for the violin (cause its different letters its less ABC's) when u tune it. the violin itself came pretty put together besides for the bridge that holds the strings at the bottom of the violin so it did take some time to learn how to put it together and tune it and assemble all the parts . depending how u tune it that's how your sound quality will come out it must be really accurate to get the best sound that you want. the violin itself seems to be made strong it holds well feels like its make out if some strong wood. i recommend this size for beginners due to the price... and the size of it (i got the 1/2 it's about 2 feet maybe a drop more) the age i would say it would fit would be from a 6 year old to about a 12-13 . my child is 9 and it fits well. the case seems well made sturdy it has a zipper and Velcro to. but overall its a great violin for beginners and children...
Elsie Baldwin
I have been playing this violin for about a month now and it is great for the price you pay. You need to tune her a lot, but that is just another skill you get to practice. I would definitely recommend this product, it is a steal. PS - I would get a tuner app for your smart phone as well because the tuner that comes with it can be weird at times, I tend to use both at the same time to get an idea of how it is going.
Rebecca Corrin
I know nothing about violins, but my son is picking it up, practicing nonstop, and the instrument has served him well. I definitely recommend this for a beginner, sounds good, well made.
Selwyn Williams
I like the violin very much. It's cheap, but it works well for me when I'm a beginner. The sound is nice, too.
William Hawksworth
I liked it. Very quality
Rejoice Praise
I ordered this violin for my boy, he just starts learning violin for a month. He loves it! It comes with a case which easy to carry. Very reasonable price, if you are looking for violin for beginner that is the one you should get.
Plamena Darzhikova
I play guitar and have always wanted to try my hand at cello but decided to check out the violin first, after doing a little research I made of list of everything I'll need and this package checked it all off and then some. Before we even get to the violin I have to brag on the case, if I found a guitar version of this case I would gladly pay twice what this entire package cost just for that because it is a nice case, everything from the smooth interior to the magnets to the compartments is a great touch. I had to do a little sleuthing to figure out how to set this guy up and it was pretty easy, the bridge stays on via tension and I recommend using the smaller tuning legs bear the bridge rather than the ones at the other end, the other thing I'll mention is that a bow will not make noise across violin strings without rosin so make sure you add it, simply drag something across the surface of the rosin block to scrape up some dust and then take your bow across the block repeatedly. The sound is good, it projects great and It held tune after a 20 minute session, the body is elegant and smooth, I still sound like a beginner and so long as I do it's not going to be pretty but that's no fault of the instrument, after looking up notes and chords and playing them alone I can tell that they were accurate and would sound amazing together. I was playing the opening to twinkle twinkle little star within half an hour of setting it up, I have a little advantage because playing guitar and understanding tabs will give you a small boost but it's still another world, if I can do it anyone can. I would recommend this to anyone and look forward to my time with it, it's definitely a good instrument to learn on if you ask me.
jamie blount
I played violin a little bit when I was a teenager, but totally forgot how to play again. This violin is a very good start instrument for beginner like me, and hopefully I can improve skill day by day
Jane Mortimore
I played violin for 10 years but stopped for 7 years so I got this one to teach myself again. You can definitely tell the quality based on the price. I’ve played on violins valued over £800 and I can tell a huge difference BUT it’s perfectly functional and good enough for a practice violin. It comes with so much stuff I was honestly not expecting it all. Two bridges, extra strings, rosin, electric tuner. Im excited
Amelia Maneco
I purchased 2 of these violins - one for me one for my sister. For someone who has always wanted to learn violin, this violin is perfect! Maybe it is not the highest quality instrument, but to me it is. I honestly love my violin. Maybe it didn't cost the most, maybe it doesn't make the most pristin sound to a professional, but that is okay. I didn't purchase this to perform professionally. This violin for me is a dream come true. Trying out my rosined bow and violin for the first time - I cannot explain the thrill!!! As someone else said - to me this violin is as wonderful as a Stradivarius. The sound is pristine, the feel of holding this dream in my hands is worth more than a million dollars. I would recommend this violin to anyone looking to start out on a musical journey. It is worth the money - it is worth the time.
Genaii Ford茅
I purchased this for our granddaughter & have been teaching her to play. It set up well... Placing bridge, tuning with included tuner, the sound is good for anyone just playing for their own enjoyment or school performances. It is a great deal for the price & all the extras included!
Billy Davies
I think this violin is great for the beginning of violin classes. My daughter love it.
Temur Abuladze
I tried for months to give it a chance but i cant anymore. I had to buy new strings, because the ones that came were bad. The pegs dont even fit in the wholes they make squeeky sounds just trying but dont budge. I had to RESTRING them at least over 15 times in the 4 or 5 times i tried to use it. Definitely will not recommend for beginner. Tuning and restringing are totally different things. Tuning is very common for any violin.... But the pegs giving up and the strings being let go is a no no. Personally for having motivation to practice this violin made me discouraged and wanting to stay away from the labor that comes with it... Just horrible.
Ben Moss
I was a bit skeptical of buying a violin online. However, this did not disappoint. Considering the cost of is a perfect start for a beginner.
michael o'halloran
I was really impressed by the quality of the instrument and the beautiful case and all the accessories that came with it. My son loves it and I am very impressed for what we got for the price.
Chris Bashford
I was surprised that it’s delivered so quickly even though I don’t have Prime on my account. Nicely and securely packed , I don’t play instruments but my 8 year old just started her lessons at school, we got her size 1/2 but because she is very tall 8 years old - her arms are too long for it so we decided to get a size up as her birthday is coming up anyway . For my opinion it’s a beautiful solid craftsman work on the outlines, my daughter installed violin tuners to start and her music teacher been helping as well. Hopefully this one will last her for a while before we have to get her the full size one , but with the prize here can’t find one cheaper in the shops !
Christine Goodman
I'm in my thirties, I always wanted to know to play the violin and I read some articles online, that it is never too late to start to learn how to play the violin, And I was looking for a violin that on the one hand would not be too expensive but on the other hand would be playable, and I think I did find, - I found this violin, although the sound does not equal the sound of professional violins, but certainly reasonable, and certainly suitable for beginners, the violin comes with all the necessary accessories - strings , Resin, (bad quality) case, and electronic tuner, overall I am very satisfied.
Reg . Moorcroft
I'm trying to learn to play on my own. A little tuff but I'll keep at it.
Arvind Menon
Impressed with the quality for the price! Great for beginners!
Christian Lonsbury
Is amazing, my girl adores it
Christine Kerrigan
It is a great violin for beginners, i have been wanting to get back to playing for a few years. i got the biggest size. Better fit for an adult. It does come with four extra strings as back up. The shoulder rest sits perfectly. It is a great bundle. The color is beautiful and looks as great as the music store ones.
Adrian Bereziuk
It is an awesome violin for the price!!
Hoi yuen Chu
It was bought for our Grandson and he loves it
Sumaira Noreen
It’s a beautiful instrument. Although, the painted dots on the neck of the violin are just a hair off.
Paul Jenkins
It’s exactly what I was looking for to learn how to play on.
maureen Hailes
It’s great for beginners! I’m a music teacher teaching beginning lessons and I’m rusty so I got this one for myself to practice. Very sturdy case. Good strong bow. Easy to tune. Would definitely recommend for those wanting to begin inexpensively.
Alasdair Shaw
It’s not bad for beginners. It needs tuning often.
Henry Denny
It’s perfect and looks like the picture
Rich Forster
It's a gift for someone. Watched some review videos on Youtube about this product and it has good recommendations. The sound of the violin is pretty good for this price. Might need a better bow in the future but all is good for a beginner at the start I guess. It's good value to have everything needed in a package. The world needs more good music.
Abidah Hussain
It's a perfectly fine violin for beginners. The price is right. The tuner isn't great, you may need to download a tuner to your cell phone to help get it in tune. My child has been using it for class and it has been just fine. Don't expect the "Red Violin", this is a very basic beginner one.
Matt Webster
it's good for beginners when you dont need a high quality violin. it definitely works but setting it up as a beginner kinda sucks
David Stanley
It's great for beginners!
Jeanette Bogg
I've been playing guitar for 15 years and wanted to try playing the violin to learn my favorite movie songs and irish fiddle tunes. This package is TREMENDOUS value. I have owned many instruments, and I know quality when I see it. For 120 bucks... Just wow. The finish is great, the pegs aren't perfect, but stay in tune quite well. The fine tuners are awesome, better than my floyd rose on my jackson wrxt guitar (convenience wise). You get 1 bow, a tuner, a very nice case (for the price its very attractive), and some good smelling rosin lol. It cost me alot more to get started on guitar. Guitar is easier in my opinion, because bowing and picking are 2 different monsters. But practice makes perfect, and for the price, this thing is perfect. Extremely satisfied, its so pretty I cant stop staring at it.
Roy Cabuso
Kiddo wanted a violin, but I didn’t want to invest a ton of money before knowing if she’s going to stick with it. Plus, she’s growing, so an inexpensive small violin seemed good for now. I played a bit when I was little, so really haven’t touched a violin in decades. With the help of a YouTube video, got it set up quickly and she was playing within 30 minutes. Perfect for what we needed. Will probably be upgrading the bow soon. Update: Over six months later and this violin is still doing great. It's used for practicing and violin class once a week. Violin instructor pointed out that the dots on the neck are great for beginners and it rarely needs to be re-tuned. Would buy it again!
Ben Boughton
Llego a tiempo buen producto por el precio
Geraldine Kilkelly
Looks beautiful. Can't seem to get the bow to work. Still trying.
Ben Saunders
My 5.5 yo daughter just started violin lessons. This is perfect for a beginner. It comes with everything that’s needed which is nice because I know nothing about the violin.
daniel avram
My 8 year old grandson loved it! Was much nicer than any other beginner violin that I have seen.
Louisa Dyson
My boys were exited to get this!
Usama Amjad
My daughter is 8 and loves her violin, she is currently in lessons and this is a wonderful instrument for her.
