Very soothing sound, extremely pleasant to the touch, sturdy and good looking (it reminds me of a Japanese tea pot :). The bag is also surprisingly high-quality.

I was extremely pleased to come across this wonderful musical instrument on a lightening deal. The protective carrying case, mallets and labeling makes this a wonderfully great tongue drum for all musicians. It has a wonderful deep tonal quality. So glad to add this time my world percussion collection. I have a picture of what I considered a mini tongue drum for comparison.

Great sound. Carrying case is very convenient.

This drum is great!!! It came in tune and with all parts intact. My 2-year-old loves it. It is definitely better than having her play a snare drum all day.

Beautiful tones, easy for a beginner to make pretty sounds while practicing. It sounds lovely even played randomly for background noise.

It has the most beautiful sound! Every note is pitch perfect. It arrived yesterday, very well packaged in a sturdy case. I’ve been playing with it since. This drum was recommended by a musician friend and it’s just what I wanted.

I really like my drum. Fast delivery. This drum came well packaged. It has a good weight and feel. I love the sound and it is fun just listening to random tunes I created.
It is calming and sounds great at night sitting on the deck playing. The sound is clear and resonates well.
So go ahead and don’t hesitate to get this drum. No experience needed and great rewards in mindfulness and calming self.

I like the sound of the crystal alike when I hit it. The sound is very beautiful, unfortunately my music is not so beautiful. It is not as easy as I imagined. I need to spend more time practicing.

I've always been interested in learning a steel tongue drum so I bought this to start learning how to play with it. As a beginner this is a good buy. It comes with tuning instructions and a little music book. Perfect for meditation and produces zen music to the room which even my small kids love. Can be used with either fingers or the Mallets, but I prefer the mallets. Cool sounding.

I initially got this instrument to be meant as a gift but lockdown oblige I ended up using it myself. The first time I started trying it I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth and beautiful the notes sound on it. Even just by going counter clockwise on all notes gives such a beautiful sound. I normally play guitar by I will learn how to master this instrument as It gives such a deep and pleasant zen music.

I was looking for some music instrument that I and my 18 year-old could play together, something easy to teach myself, not too loud and difficult to bite on. This tongue drum turned out to be a great choice. It’s heavy, smooth, in great quality. I don’t see a single scratch on the surface. The notes are labeled in numbers, which makes it super easy to learn. I found the chords for “little star” and I was able to play it right away. Amazing as a beginner! My kid was excited when she heard me playing. The best thing is, the sounds is beautiful. Even the kiddo plays the drum with no rhythm, it’s bearable. It’s exactly what I wanted. Happy with this purchase.

I am a huge fan of Reggae music and love the steel drums but that’s not why I got these drums. I am not musically talented by any means but I do meditate and this drum helps me tremendously with meditation and relaxation. Every note sounds beautiful and not out of tune at all. It’s a heavy little drum too because it’s made from a pretty thick metal. It would be pretty hard to damage this drum but it comes with a case to keep it looking fresh.

The Moukey Mini Tongue Drum is simple and approachable. It comes with 2 mallets/sticks, a well padded carrying bag with strap, and the drum itself. You can play using your fingers or the included rubber mallets. I used a chromatic tuner and the notes on the 8 key drum range as follows from low to high: G3 A3 C4 D4 E4 G4 A4 C5. For comparison, the notes on the 11 key version are: A3, B3, C#4, D4, E4, F#4, G4, A4, B4, C#5, D5. I included a video of both for comparison of the range.
I really like the build quality of the drum. It is sturdy, with a smooth and durable finish, with sturdy rubber feet. I have 2 young kids and scream a bit inside each time they try to "carefully" play with a guitar, ukulele, or piano. I don't have that worry at all with this drum and know the kids will have a great time and learn about music in the process. If you listen to online videos, you'll hear the unique beautiful sound. In the end, I feel this tongue drum will withstand the test of time/little hands and be a fun family instrument for years to come!

There’s no better time to learn a new instrument while stuck in isolation so I decided to try the Moukey steel tongue drum. I’ve never even heard of these instruments until seeing more and more videos online. It’s the coolest instrument I ever tried! I got the 8 note steel tongue drum and it’s perfect for a complete beginner like me. The kit came with drum sticks, a scores book that also explains how to tune the drum, and a nicely padded carrying bag with a strap for the drum. 7 of the tongues were perfectly in tune (when using an app) while one tongue was so close I did not bother tuning it.
The drum sticks are made of light varnished wood with heavy rubber edges. I understand why they recommend using sticks at first because it is much easier to get different tones compared with slapping the drum with your hands. The drum itself is very nicely weighted and mine came in perfect condition. There are rubber feet underneath so you can play on a table as well. I prefer playing it in my lap as it feels more natural this way.
The sound is as zen and soothing as people say it is! You can randomly hit notes and it sounds like those relaxing meditation songs! It’s almost impossible to sound bad as a beginner. The Moukey drum has a nice sustain that is not harsh at all. It’s possible to get different tones by either letting the tongue ring or stopping the sustain by using your hands. You can get a completely different sound by hitting the drum with your hands but I need more practice with the sticks before attempting that.
The drum comes with extra stickers to number each tongue to help learn the location of the notes. I can’t wait to remove the stickers because the drum looks like a nice decoration item without them!
I play guitar, just started learning bass and now I am trying this steel tongue drum as something completely different. I am really happy with this steel tongue drum and am glad I took the risk at trying something completely new to me!

I was interested in buying a steel drum and became aware of this instrument that I had never seen before. I purchased the version with eleven tones, and am pleased with what I received. The drum measures about 10 inches in diameter, stands about six inches tall, and came with two rubber tipped mallets that are a little over 8 inches long. The package was packed nicely, double boxed, and the drum was shipped inside the protective case with the second box. The soft protective case did come with a strap.
All of the tongues produced nice tones, and within a few minutes of trying it out, the tones i was producing attracted the rest of my family who wanted to see what it was and try it themselves. This provided us an evening of entertainment and all commented on how nice it sounded. I found every tongue to ring clearly, and was able to perform rolls on them which provided a reasonable facsimile of a steel drum sound, at least close enough to serve my purpose.
The finish of the drum was very nice, and the bottom featured three rubber feet that allowed it to sit level on a hard surface. I found it playable in my lap, on carpet, and on a hard surface with no notable difference in tone. As noted by other reviewers, the numbers on the tongues appear to be stickers. I wouldn't expect that you would use the numbers after getting acclimated to the instrument. Each tongue is a different physical size and hopefully you can see the arrangement of notes from the video I have posted. I would recommend this product to others.
